Leave it alone! Stop faffing with your videos

Please don't be a pixel f*ck*r

Sorry to be vulgar but that's what we call you people. Yeah you, the ones that take 6 months to create one sub par video. You can't polish a turd (although we've rolled a few in glitter in our time!). But to be less dramatic, what I'm trying to say is that sometimes you need to apply the 'stuff it, ship it' mentality when creating videos.

Ok, but how?

The real driving force behind any video content is the story. This is the same for movies, VR, corporate videos, EVERYTHING IS DOWN TO STORY. For business videos you can substitute the word 'story' with the word 'message'.

Step 1. Decide what you want to say (your message/story)
Step 2. Say it.
Step 3. Ship it.

If you have a solid message and are following the rules of being transparent and consistent, then you really don't need to be worrying about where on the screen the logo shows up, or if there is a take that has two words said slightly better. Stop messing with it, publish it!

That's why with The Video Club, when you upload video to us and we edit it we ask you to fill in a form with instructions. Because then we know what's important to you. We'll make the best video possible and you upload it. If you keep needing to tweak it then there is something wrong with the message.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this! Comment below or interact on Social Media.

Vets4Pets join The Video Club!

We've told you enough times how much impact video has on social media. But enough of the boring statistics - the proof is right here. Our first video for Vets4Pets was one of our 'social videos', and all we did was take the text from their recent Facebook post about bird flu, and turned it into a video.

Even just at a glance, you can see how much better a video looks on social media. It's so easy to scroll past a huge block of text, but a 50 second video? Might as well, right?!

This video made such a good impression that DEFRA (Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) phoned Vets4Pets the next day and asked if they could share the video. This should be all the proof you need that videos work SO much better than simple text posts. They instantly become unique, interesting, vibrant and so much easier for your audience to digest and share.

Our job didn't end here with Vets4Pets. While informative social videos are great, so is getting your face out there. Social media is a great way to attract more clients to your business, as well as keeping your current audience engaged and interested. With a vet practice in particular, we thought it was important for people to see who their pets will be seen by, to alleviate any possible intimidation.

Anna Warren, vet and partner at Vets4Pets Weymouth & Dorchester, decided we should do this by addressing one of the most common questions asked to her by clients - how to treat their animals for pets. Using The Video Club's recommended camera (Sony A5100), Anna recorded herself applying a treatment to Sebastian - a huge and friendly cat - while talking through the steps. With that and a couple of close up cutaways, The Video Club were able to knock this together...

This is only the beginning of our journey with Vets4Pets, but we've made a really good start. These videos are a perfect way to reach out to the audience of Vets4Pets - they inform, they teach and they remove the intimidation of trusting your pets with new people.

Simple, unique videos perfectly tailored to your audience is exactly what The Video Club is about, and Vets4Pets have proved just how easy it is to get started!

Why video is SO important for businesses

You’ve almost definitely heard by now that video is an essential part of modern marketing. But do you know just how essential it really is? We did a lot of research when setting up The Video Club and we found a lot of statistics that prove that if your video is not producing regular video content, you are missing out on a seriously successful advertisement and marketing tool.
